Non-EU citizens applying for the Golden Visa must invest at least €500,000 in capitalization of a commercial investment fund or venture capital fund. The investment must be held for a minimum of five years, with at least 60% of the investment directed through companies based in Portugal.

Due to the approval of a bill by the Portuguese Parliament, the golden visa pathway for real estate investment will come to an end on 7 October 2023. The primary route to obtain a golden visa will be through real estate fund investments, amounting to €500,000.
